A Game of Models 2014: Sculpting (III)

Here we are again folks!. This time, a revelation!: Remember when I said that because I didn´t finish my vow last year, I had decided to "compensate" that fact doing something extra this year?. Not as part of the vow for 2014 (or i would again not finish it) but just as an "extra" thingie for you to enjoy. Well, here it is the extra: Not only one Dark Angel Veteran from the picture am i sculpting, but two!. And of course, here are the pictures of the beginning...

Marine from Black Reach

This one required a lot more work on the legs. I´m afraid the straight one came too long, but hope it will be barely noticeable when ended.

A Game of Models 2014: Sculpting (I)

Hello, everyone! After summer time I come back with new energy and, better still, pictures of this year´s Game of Models!.

Yes, i promise to finish this one in time.

Truth be told, since the other one is technically not fully finished, this year I had the idea of compensate my "failure" somehow, and that idea was fully supported when people where not very convinced of which miniature i should sculpt. So... well, you´ll have to wait a litte longer :P. Ok, everything starts here then...

And no, there will be no forever updates. Just four, five tops. Hope you enjoy them:

Preparation:

Trying to save time (and having a bazillion one-piece marines who probably will never be painted) i decided to use one of them as my base model for sculpting. Here there is the chosen one, with his future self under him: a Pre-Heresy Dark Angel.

Nurgle Beast (IV)

                Good news everyone!.

Ok, i needed to use that phrase :P. These are not exactly news in the journalist way, but a new update! This time, the Beast of Nurgle, wich now enters his final stage: only two more updates and done (same as with the warrior, the second one will be the finished miniature, nothing more).

Enought talking, more seeying! Now it´s growing hair things on his head!

A Game of Models 2013: Sculpting (VII)

Well my dear friends, this is coming to an end at last (Truth is, it´s mainly finished except for the usual "bling" details here and there). The only problem is the lack of time because of my showdown with Mr. Von_Drake, or it woul´ve been already finished. You can´t have all...

Another thing: there will be only two more updates of this little one, being the last one the finished miniature (to a total of 9 updates). Just in case you need to know. Plus, i promise never to do such a long time WIP.

                 And now, pictures!:

Time for little stuff!

Nurgle Beast (III)

Ok, here we are at last with a new update! Now, time for this little sluggish abomination i´m actually enjoying sculpting. Time to give he/she/it sight!!

Just a mock-up of the final eye XD

Also, I keep working on the rest of the body, mostly the legs. The right one on the pictures is almost finished.

A Game of Models 2013: Sculpting (VI)

Well, new year and new updates of this little fellah! Hope this project will not last too much time (Sadly i´m usually wrong on this things :P), but in the meantime, here there are more photos, because that´s what you want ;) :

You can see a mockup of the head, and the right arm mostly finished. This is where all starts going slow, since little details take so much time and barely alters the finishing mini (on an overall look, i mean).

New shiny shoulder!

Back almost done

A bit more... with both shoulders done and the robe started.

A Game of Models 2013: Sculpting (V)

Well, someone told me that I hadn´t show any progress on this year´s mini, and ... for the past months I had to admit that was true so... nevermore! it´s time to show you more updates of this Rotten Warrior of Doom! (Also, i´m trying to do "less" updates with more photos, not to end with 20 entries showing little updates, hope you will like this way better ;) ).

Anyways, photos!: We start with the arm! (again, silver paper core one :P). The legs are almost finished (armour nearly done) but i will come back on them later in this project.

And now an step by step of shoulder and arm (and spikes for the belt):

Nurgle Beast (II)... and a celebration!

Ok, let´s go to the interesting stuff: photos! Time for my little mutant slug to grow a mouth! or a pair... of mouths.

Also, working on the lower side of the body.

Nurgle Beast (I)

Ok, this is gonna be a "fast update" of the blog since i´m REALLY busy (stupid interesting online courses XD). Second episode of the, now you know, Nurgle Beast i´m sculpting. It has grow a lot, now he/she/it even has legs!. The different-colored green stuff you can see in the mini are areas that i already "finished" sculpting. I know it´s not exactly the usual way of doing this, but come on, it´s a daemonic creature, doesn´t follow logic!

Sideway Project

While i wait for more replies for my 2014 Game (being Space Marines-related i truly was expecting a bigger feedback XD) i´m going to show you a little sideway project i´m doing.

No, i didn´t forget the Librarian (it´s finished, only needs Photoshop)

No, i didn´t forget the warrior of Nurgle, i just... ran out of updates....

No, i didn´t forget about the Apocalipse photos! Shut up!

Ok, sorry, it´s just that i usually run several proyects at the same time, specially when i´m working with green stuff: After doing a little detail/adding a great bunch of stuff, i left the mini to dry so i end up with, well, "nothing" to do. Working with the Nurgle Warrior one day i just had the "urge" to start this little friend, an idea who has been running through my mind for a long time, so... well, you can see, silver paper and a little liquid green stuff later....

Blurry photo, sorry, took with the phone.

A Game of Models 2013: Sculpting (IV)

Fourth edition of this series, here we go!. Now, time to finish the chainmail and start with some little details...

Front...

... and back.

The belt is done minus the spikes (that will take a lot...). Chainmail ended quite well, you can see that where the "robes" will be sculpted i didn´t bother making the rings, better save the time for other stuff!. One of the more "eye-catching" details is the one on his right leg, and i wasn´t sure of how it will turn out, being so little, but it actually was really easy to do. I mean, yes, i had to be VERY cautious, and did it in a couple of sessions not to have problems with recently put green stuff, but with patience and a pin (yes, a pin)... well, you can see!:

More details added!

A Game of Models 2013: Sculpting (III)

Oooooooook, this is going slow but purposeful like your average Cenutrion (yeah, i know, bad joke. And mispelling intended). Now it is time for the most tricky part of the miniature, the chainmail. In the picture you can more-or-less know his size and shape, but still has a lot of dark areas where you have to imagine how it´s done. Also, there is the problem of doing this kind of stuff, basically because you have to made it on thin air, more or less, and previous experiments went... not well enought. But ha!, now i´m more (sort of) experienced, have better techniques, have less hair*ahem*back on topic. I had an idea with this piece: first, a pin in his... ehm... well, no pictures of it because your dirty minds are, well, that, dirty. Then again the silver paper and hop, you have a quite decent mock-up of the chaincloth!:

Doesn´t need it to be perfect, thank Nurgle

Back. No more metal shorts.

Now, liquid green stuff. You have to be very careful not to cover (a lot) the rest of the mini with it.

A Game of Models 2013: Sculpting (II)

Second episode of this sculpting series: Now the basic frame of the miniature starts taking shape, but it´s still faaaaaaaaaaar from the end. The right leg it´s not yet ok, but the nice thing with green stuff, you only need to add it in the proper places and... perfect. Well, better pictures than words!:

The warrior with the bended leg

Little scars and metal throusers

Start of the chest armour

Yep, so as i told several times before (i think) the better way to sculpt things with armour is just built the basic "shape" (armour without details) and only when you have it right (or close to right) start adding details. Here you have what i got at this point. I also started with little scars and cuts on several zones to show that it´s not in perfect shape.

A Game of Models 2013: Sculpting (I)

Well, here we are at last, dont think that i forgot this project. At the start of this year i made a contest to pick up an artwork that i promised i will sculpt along this year, and the chosen one was a Nurgle Chaos warrior from the old "The Lost and the Damned" book. Up to July, i didn´t even built the basic armature. It was about time to start! And so, the creature began to rise...

Basic wire structure. Doesn´t need to be perfect

Here you can see my now typical little silver man. Again, it doesn´t have to be perfect (or cover all the wire thing), only to, well, have a little resemblance with your objective. Add glue if needed.

And now we add the liquid green stuff and we have... :

Swamp Thing! Wait, no...

At this point i realized my first (of maaaaaany) mistake: the right leg of the mini is in a wrong position. Thankfully, sawing green stuff and silver paper is reeeeeaaaally easy (another reason to use this technique!)

I can always say it´s a mutation...

Well, time for REALLY start sculpting. In this kind of minis, with a loto of armour, the fist thing to sculpt is... yes, that, the armour (Duh). No details, no complications, just he basic armour pieces:

There, metal pants!

You can see i started sawing the leg.. Still needs more work but i´m not worried ;)

Really basic armour on the Left leg

Aaaand... that´s all for now. Hope the next update will come soon... and hope you like what i´m doing, still basics but you can see several techniques and the overal shape of the... thing :P.

Ok, waiting for your questions/comments, hope you like this! See you soon!

+++++++++++++++++ INITIATING TRANSLATION++++++++++++++++

Jake the Dog Sculpting (II).

Well folks, here it is the second episode of this sculpting tutorial. Since everything from here is quite easy, i think pictures will be enought:

Arms done, legs on position :P:

Now, we will start with the  boots legs of our little friend.

Almost done

Aaaaaaaaaaand after a little saw and cheking for overall details, here you have the finished product, Jake the Dog :P:

Needs the rubber not to fall, actually :P

No, i didn´t forget the tail ;)

Well friends, that´s all, soon i will start with the tutorial of the Chaos Warrior, and (hopefully) the last updates on the painting tutorial of the Terminator. Busy i am, huh?. Hope you like it, see you soon!

+++++++++++++++++ INITIATING TRANSLATION++++++++++++++++

Nos vemos pronto con más tutoriales!
