Propósitos 2012: El Resumen

         Último día del 2012.... qué mejor momento para analizar cómo ha sido este año a nivel de cumplimiento de retos? :D. Pasemos al tema ;)

1. Escribir al menos una entrada en el blog por semana.Este año han sido 30 (31 con esta) en lugar de 40... pero claro, sin dibujar tiras cómicas normal que baje. Creo que por ahí estará la media que pueda/vaya a escribir al año, que al fin y al cabo no está mal.
2. Escribir. Cumplido! De hecho ha sido un año bastante fructífero en este aspecto. Vale que no acabé mucho, pero acabé cosas, que es lo que importa :)
3. Dibujar lo mismo o más que el año anterior. No se ha mantenido el nivel, al parecer o pinto o dibujo o escribo, pero las tres a la vez.... XD. Pero algo hice :P
4. Pintar más que el año pasado: Este ha sido un año bastante fructífero (para mis estándares :P) en este aspecto, a ver si pal año lo logro mantener :).
5. Acabar proyectos: Hum, ahora no me acuerdo así que lo dejaré como "a medias". Cosas se avanzaron pero ninguna se acabó... algo algo.
6. Reducir el tiempo en internet: Cumplido, ahora supongo que debería reducir el tiempo delante del ordenador, digo yo XD.
7. Sexo sexo sexo!!. La familia bien, vamos.
8. Mejorar mi situación profesional. Cursillo con prácticas realizado (muy interesante, pero tan solo me ha "dado" una entrevista, cosa que casi es un récord, ahora que lo pienso XD). A medias lo dejo.
9. Acabar la carrera. Epic Fail. Y no tiene pinta de cambiar.
10. Lograr que sea el mejor año de mi vida. Hum... siempre es difícil saber si esto se ha cumplido, con lo que lo dejaremos a medias como siempre, ha tenido cosas buenas y cosas no tan buenas, pero a peor diría que no he ido (salvo en la edad XD). Avanzando?

 Tres completas, tres a medias (bueno, en varios es difícil cuantificar, a decir verdad). Así que lo dejaremos en "progresa adecuadamente". No sobresaliente, pero menos es nada :). Dicho esto... a todos vosotros fieles y escasos lectores, feliz 2013, y gracias por estar ahí simplemente porque queríais ;).

Armies on Parade (III)

             And here it comes the last entry of this series! And the one with the bigger number of photos, i think. Only two armies remaining, here they are:

                This was my first 40k army (and the only one who actually saw battlefield action...). You can see that the paintjob well... needs redoing (being politely...). Since the Space Marine Chapters are divided in Companies, i though i should divide my minis the same way:

Let´s play a game: Last Voting!!

               Here we are again folks... there were few votes but interesting choices. Well, at last... the final poll!!. Now, YOU will choose the mini i will sculpt the next year! If the result is a success maybe next year i will repeat the experiment :).

           One: This picture has a mini, but old beyond recognition and ugly has hell, so here it is:

            Two: This is a war scene, so if you select it you must choose a warrior on it, sorry :P

     Three: A classic. Also, unless stated otherwise, i will sculpt the warrior, not the plaguebearer :P

Skink WIP (III)

                  Well, third and last WIP entry for this mini, next one will be the (i hope) finished one. Now it has the Gold (minus the weapon) and Jade zones done, and also the basic colors in the jungle base, hope you like it!

                  Still not convinced about the NMM Gold (not the execution but the... "placement of the light", you can say), i will touch it a little but not redo it for two reasons:

             1) It´s a good way to learn

             2) I don´t wanna repaint it XD.

              Well, the first voting has ended (five votes... was expecting a little more, actually XD), and the final winner was...

               With a vote on the last second XD. Nurgle and Tzeentch then... well, time for the second row, now you must say a random page of this book, and i will select the closest arwork to that page (first upwards, then downwards if there isn´t a picture on the page). Just remember a few tips:

• If two "players" choose the same artwork, sorry!, only one picture added :P.
• If the page has an artwork in the edges it can be chosen! (the second option has plenty of them, in example). As i told you before, if the page has several drawings all of them will enter the final poll
• I will follow the pdf number of page UNLESS the pages has a number, (or i have the book XD) in that case i will follow THAT number. Example: Champions of Chaos page 13 (pdf) is the book page 10 (you can see it on the scanned page). Well, if you say "page 10" i will go for this page, not the pdf page.
• Book goes from 2 to 296

          

          You can vote from now to the 19 of December (i´m pretty sure everyone who really wants to vote will have voted way before that date...). Then, it will start the third and last row, selecting the final picture. And then... sculpting!

Armies on Parade (II)

             Didn´t forget about this series because of all the contest thing, here are the second episode of my "Armies on Parade" showcase. Remember, three kind of "entries": Armies (complete, legal ones), Warbands (one complete unit, but not enought for an army) and Happy Tree Friends (single miniatures, incomplete units, etc). Well, here we go:

               If you still remember the previous post, i told that Warriors of Chaos were my first minis but not my first army. Well, here is the lucky one!:

      I expect to finish him this month, next mini will be... well, not sure,probably another lizardmen (let´s see if i have a "legal" army again). Hope you like it!

Let´s play a game...

      

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

         
           Oooook, not THAT kind of game... but an interesting one, i hope. Here it is: some of you may know (specially if you actually READ this blog) that i sculpt minis sometimes. It takes me a lot of time and effort (i´m not very fast on nothing hobby-related...) but i think that the results are good enought for me. And here starts the game:

            I´m gonna sculpt a mini.

           "Fascinating. And...?" i hear you say... well, the funny thing is... that YOU are gonna choose the mini. 

            "Fascinating. And...?"

           

            ¬ ¬U. Ah come on boys and girls, it can be funny, and it´s not gonna cost you a penny!. Let´s go on: how are you gonna do that? Easy. I collect Chaos Warriors in fantasy, and i have nearly all the army books that have been published (except for the first two, but i have them on pdf. Yes GW, i know is illegal, re-publish them and i will buy them ;)). These books are usually full of great pictures that... are never done in mini... Well, i´m gonna do one, in three steps:

First step: 

           The poll, that starts today, will last for a month and allow you to choose one of the books that i have. The mini will be chosen from that book.

Second step:

       

           The page. It will last another month, and we will choose on the previously selected book the page of the mini we want to be done "Oh, but i don´t have the book!" Well, that´s the funny thing: everyone will say one random page, and i will post the image of that page. Look at the Q&A for all the doubts i know you have now.

Third step: 

           The final one. Of all the pictures, we will make another poll and choose the final mini. I´m gonna sculpt it all over 2013, and anyone who know me can tell you that i ALWAYS do what i promise. Sooner or later, but i always fulfill my oaths. It-will-be-done.

             Everyone who studied basic maths should have notice by now that all of this means that the sculpting will start on January 2013... why so late? Two answers: having time for the polls, and because i told a friend that i will try to paint several minis this year, and i have to, well, try :P

Skink W.I.P

         Don´t say i don´t post enought painted minis here. This time, a W.I.P of a skink (WH), the skin is almost done, next week i will start with the details:

Armies on Parade (I)

             I started painting miniatures over twelve, maybe fourteen (fourteen?!? Dear God...) years ago. My first game was Warhammer Fantasy Battles, and it´s still one of my favourites. With passing years i added other games and other minis, but all of them were focused on one thing: armies. Fantasy armies, futuristic armies, but armies nonetheless. An after that time i should have a lot of them completed (that means painted) but... nope. Not my style XD

            So, the title of this post makes reference to the competitions (specially GW) and/or just showcases that you can find on the internet with people showing his usually beautiful painted warriors in formation, ready for war. And i though (sometimes i do) "I need to do that. If only, to see once my finished armies assembled". I made a list of my minis, took some photos, and then realized that i don´t owe a lot of true armies, "true" meaning "armies that can be fielded in a game". Hell, i only owe three... in FOURTEEN YEARS.

                 *sigh*

            Ok after a bit of crying, i decided to classify my hosts in three types: Armies, Warbands and Happy Tree Friends (it´s my post and i write what i want) meaning complete armies, uncomplete armies with at least one unit finished, and a collection of separate soldiers that maybe in the far future will be an army. Here is the list:

Armies:

• Ultramarines           (40K)
• Lizardmen              (WH)
• Warriors of Chaos  (WH)

Warbands:

• Bretonnia          (WH)
• Tyranids            (40K)

Happy Tree Friends:

• Grey Knights     (40K)

         I have other games, like Blood Bowl, Warmachine/Hordes etc, but they will appear in other posts (also, i only have fully painted armies from GW ... :P). So, in this series of posts i´m gonna show one army of every "level" i have, trying to avoid the typical "photo overload". Here are the first ones:

Tales of Fantasy and Adventure

             Para poder escribir, hay que leer.

         

            Puntualizo: para poder escribir BIEN, hay que leer. Mucho. Muchísimo. Todo lo que puedas, y luego un par de cosas más. Y si tus gustos van por algún campo específico (Scy-fi, Fantasía, Aventuras, etc) entonces es bueno tener una "lista" de los clásicos del género que no puedes dejar de leer bajo ninguna excusa, o al menos dejar de conocer. Esta entrada va de eso, de conocer los pilares que sustentan algunos de esos géneros que todos conocemos y, algunos, amamos. Concretamente, los de los géneros de Aventuras y Fantasía que menciono en el título.

             No pretendo hacer una divagación larga y sesuda de por qué están aquí los libros que están, o hablar largo y tendido sobre los autores de los mismos, pues hay blogs mucho mejores que el mío que lo hacen profusamente, y luego siempre está la wikipedia, claro XD. En mi caso es más el hacer, como he dicho antes, una lista de esos libros que cualquier amante del género de fantasía DEBE tener en su librería o, de no ser posible, leer vía bibliotecas u otros sistemas más... "extraoficiales" pero accesibles. Sólo puntualizaré un motivo personal: cuando a alguien le gusta un tema (vulgo, los siempre populares vampiros) ha de conocer que antes que pesadillas Crapusculares existió un "Drácula" que sentó sus bases (que la mencionada saga se encargó de destrozar, todo sea dicho) y que si te gusta la fantasía heroica, leerse "El Señor de los Anillos" es un "must have", que dirían los angloparlantes.

             Que antes del "Mundo perdido" de Crichton, estuvo el de Arthur Conan Doyle.

            Es decir, buscar esos libros que sentaron las bases o pilares que antes mencionaba y reunirlos todos ordenados para un acceso más fácil. Sólo una cosa: la ciencia ficcion tiene poco más de un siglo de vida literaria pero aun así hay cientos, si no miles, de libros que por una u otra razón podrían considerarse válidos de aparecer aquí, con lo que me he centrado en el origen puro y duro, los albores del siglo pasado. Eso deja fuera clásicos modernos como podrían ser el "Jurassic Park" de Crichton, o incluso la saga de "Canción de Hielo y Fuego" (conocida por Juego de Tronos, pero bueno XD) de Martin, pero nada más lejos sugerir que no merecen estar aquí, simplemente... los dejo para otra entrada ;).
         
            En definitiva, que son todos los que están, pero no están todos los que son. En la lista, el autor, el país de origen (Pongo GB para curarme en salud con todos los irlandeses, escoceses y demás gente XD) y el libro o libros más conocidos, y por qué. Los libros con doble "intro" son aquellos que quizás no tengan la calidad/fama de los anteriores, pero merecen estar también en la lista (o simplemente son del mismo autor y así están todos juntos XDDD).

              Bien, si habéis leído la última entrada de esta serie ya sabréis que esta será más fácil. Ejemplos de malas adaptaciones los hay a patadas, pero como no quiero repetir el sugerido por mi coleguilla Anna, buscaré otro, será por opciones...

           Vale, iba a poner la de "Soy leyenda" de Will Smith, pero he encontrado otra que le da mil patadas como mala adaptación. Cierto que es de un cómic, pero no hago distinciones en ese aspecto, muchos cómics tienen más tema y desarrollo de personajes que muuuuchos libros ;). And the winner is...

              """""Adaptación""""""" (creo que me quedo corto con las comillas) de la obra de Mark Millar del mismo título: 

 

Hay pistolas. Fin de las coincidencias.

               Sin meterme en que sea buena o mala peli (que no es ninguna maravilla, pero al ser de tiros puede rellenar un rato el cerebro... un poco....) como adaptación da ascazo. Si tuvieses que definir el cómic en cuatro-cinco palabras y hacer una peli de eso, probablemente te saldría el Wanted cinéfilo. Y es que pasar de "un mundo gobernado en secreto por los supervillanos" a "una hermandad de asesinos que disparan bien" podría parecer que tiene ligeras similitudes, hasta que lees el original y dices "aaaaaham, ya veo...". 

             Que no, que se parece como un huevo a una castaña. Ah si, la prota se llama igual, Fox, supongo que eso hay que concedérselo a los que se "curraron" la adaptación. Pa hacer eso, que se abstuviesen de decir que se basaba en nada, que seguro que se ahorrarían el dinero de comprarle a Millar los derechos del cómic, leñes!.

                  En fin, hasta la próxima entrada, esta ha llevado tiempo :P. Nos vemos!

I Concurso Tercio Creativo: Relatos ganadores

                 La, digamos, "venada" de este mes (bueno, más bien del anterior) fue volver a escribir algo después de muuuuucho tiempo sin hacerlo. Y a la hora de escribir, si quieres mejorar (o si no también, ¡qué diablos!) hay que intentar participar en toooodos los concursos posibles. No para ganar (bueno, también ayuda :P) sino para esforzarte. Ver cómo se trabaja bajo tensión de fechas y límites, con temas específicos, con otros más con los que competir en el glorioso campo de batall.... Bueno, que pilláis la idea. Uno de esos concursos fue el de Tercio Creativo, que pedía un relatillo de una carilla sobre una personalidad mercenaria inventada. El premio, además, era más que interesante: el personaje diseñado y esculpido por las talentosas manos de este grupo.

                   

                    Así pues, ahí me puse, escribí el relato, mi hermana se rió de él, lo reescribí, mi hermana se rió menos, y cuando llegamos a un punto de aceptación, lo mandé. Y miren ustedes, que si bien no ganó, ha logrado una mención de honor, lo cual es mucho más de lo que me esperaba (y menos viendo que hubo más de 20 participantes). Así que, motivado y contento con el resultado, ahora, siguiente objetivo ;).

Scriptorium: Sangre en la nieve.

                Una de las muchas cosas en las que pierdo mi escaso tiempo libre es en escribir. Bien es cierto que soy más de tener una idea buena que de desarrollarla hasta el final (como con tantas cosas...) pero aun así no pierdo la esperanza de un día escribir algo decente que ocupe más que un folleto del Carrefour. Soñar es gratis XD. 

               El caso es que este relato que les dejo aquí entra en una categoría muy especial para mí: relatos que HE ACABADO. Es una categoría pequeña... muy pequeña... pero eh, existe! Y puesto que las nuevas tecnologías están ahí a la vuelta de la esquina, me he decidido a subirla no sólo en formato PDF sino también en formato epub. Que no se diga.

PD1: El relato está ambientado en el mundo de Warmachine, que es un juego de fantasía steampunk. Si no te suena de nada, es probable que muchos de los términos y situaciones que aquí se presentan te pillen con el pie cambiado. Yo aviso ;)

PD2: Si alguien con reader quiere probar el epub verá que hay dos versiones. Agradecería que probasen las dos y me dijesen si alguna está mal y/o cuál es la mejor, no tengo lector de libros electrónicos por ahora y toda ayuda es poca, gracias :D

              Funny.

          I started this blog to (among other things) show my works to the internet around. I posted painted minis, projects, and sometimes other stuff that i had made/see/thinked about. But i never posted my sculpted minis. And didn´t even think about it. In a year.

             Ok, time to fix it! Here are my sculpted minis at this moment. Not pieces or similar, just complete minis:

                 First one: Forsaken. Based on the artwork by PP, this was my first complete sculpt.

              Fourth: Tyrannic War Veteran sergean. Because GW didn´t release one, and i was tired of crappy sculpts based on marvelous artwork.

El reto de los 30 libros: 9- Uno que tenga una excelente versión cinematográfica

            Difícil, difícil encontrar libros que tengan buenas adaptaciones cinematográficas. Y eso es porque, principalmente, es muy complicado (quizás imposible) ser capaz de transmitir visualmente lo que uno ha imaginado leyendo un libro. Cada persona es un mundo, cada uno "ve" lo que sus experiencias y su imaginación les permiten, y las Minas de Moria por las que tu caminaste nunca serán iguales que aquellas que viste en pantalla (aunque se acerquen mucho, o en ciertos momentos se solapen). 

               El mundo de las novelas gráficas (que también son libros, le pese al que le pese) es todavía más complicado. Aquí no solo hay una historia que adaptar, sino imágenes que ya te muestran cómo son las cosas. Cierto que esto debería ser una ventaja, una adaptación que se precie ya tiene un buen material que emplear, pero en muchos casos lo que funciona en un cómic no funciona en pantalla, y a veces una escena de un cómic es demasiado complicada (o cara) para llevar a cabo en una película, incluso con ordenador.

               Pero me enrollo: se supone que he de seleccionar una buena adaptación... así que me quedo con esta: 

     

Ciudad del pecado...

           

                Sin City: adaptación de tres de las novelas gráficas que componen la saga Sin City (son 7, si mi memoria no me falla) en una misma película que logra que al mismo tiempo que la ves, leas las historias. Y es que el copiar casi plano por plano las aventuras de esas almas perdidas en una ciudad donde siempre parece llover, y además hacerlo con la misma imaginería visual (Mickey Rourke siempre será Marv, a partir de este film) era arriesgado. Mucho. Pero a pesar de todo no sólo tuvo éxito, sino que mostró que el cómic podía llevarse a la pantalla fielmente y resultar una gran experiencia y una gran película. 

                 Y no hay muchas que puedan hacer eso.

                En fin, esperamos volver en breve al tema... nos leemos!
